Guards in Combat
How guards strengthen your power and when they can die in murder.

Guards are not mere decoration. Their attack, armour, speed, and bravery feed directly into your combat power whenever the game resolves a fight against another player.
In both PvP challenges and murder attempts, your guards are calculated together with equipment, dragon, hero bonuses, skills, health, and experience.
Skill bonus on damage
Guards with mission skill add extra offensive power. Each guard's attack contribution includes a flat bonus of skill ÷ 10 (skill is tracked from 0% to 100%).
Examples:
- Attack 45, skill 0% → counts as 45 damage.
- Attack 45, skill 100% → counts as 55 damage (45(+10) on the Guards screen).
Only attack is boosted by skill; armour, speed, and bravery are unchanged.
While a guard is on mission
A guard who is still travelling on a mission (timer not finished) is excluded from your combat power entirely. Once they return — even before you tap Collect — they count again, including any skill attack bonus.
When guards die
In murder outcomes, guards can be lost permanently. The game may remove up to two random guards from an involved character and sends a system message for each loss. Guards still away on an active mission (timer not finished) are never chosen.
Common casualty outcomes include:
- successful kill resolution
- draw resolution
- Captain's Sacrifice resolution
Standard PvP uses guard stats for power but does not permanently delete your guards.
